Welcome

Dear Delegates!

With great pleasure and honour, I would like to extend a warm welcome to each one of you to the prestigious International Conference on Radiation Research: its impact on Human Health and Environment (ICRR-HHE) 2024 scheduled to be held Patna from November 22-24, 2024. This mega event is jointly being organized by Sri Sai Institute of Medical Sciences (SSIMS) Hajipur and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna. As the Organizing Chairman, I am thrilled to invite you all to join us for this elite conference and 4th Biennial of Society of Radiation Research (SRR India) on its glorious 10th anniversary, which promises to be a landmark event in the field of radiation research. With a focus on exploring the multifaceted impact of radiation on human health and the environment, ICRR-HHE 2024 is going to provide a unique platform for scientists, researchers, and practitioners from around the globe to converge, collaborate, and exchange invaluable insights.

For the comfort of delegates, we have arranged accommodation in a 5-star hotel just near to the venue at negotiated price. In the month of November, the climate of Patna is very pleasant, temperature ranging from 25-28 0C. Patna previously known as Pataliputra is situated on the bank of sacred Ganga. It is a historical city and most of the religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism- all had its deep route in the soil of Bihar; and that’s why Bihar is popularly known as the land of enlightment. There are many historical places in and around Patna which are worth seeing.
Friends, Bihar is always known for its warm hospitality, and after the conference, I am sure you will have sweet memories.

We look forward to your participation to make ICRR-HHE 2024 a grand success.

Warm regards,

Dr. J. K. Singh

Director, Sri Sai Institute of Medical Sciences, Hajipur/Patna

Esteemed Guests, Respected Delegates, and Distinguished Participants,

It is an honor and a privilege to extend a heartfelt welcome to all of you at the International Conference on Radiation Research: Impact on Human Health and Environment (ICRR-HHE-2024) and 4th Biennial meeting of SRR. As we gather for this momentous occasion, we recognize the critical importance of advancing our understanding of the impact of radiation on both human health and the environment.

Ever since our society started in December 15th 2014 at Mumbai, it is playing viral role in the advancement of radiation science. We had several meetings, one held in 2016 at Mumbai, one in 2018 at Hyderabad and the last one was at Mumbai in 2022. The recent one is going to held at AIIMS, Patna, historic city of India.

Radiation research plays a pivotal role in shaping our approach to technology, medicine, and environmental stewardship. The insights gained from this conference will undoubtedly contribute to the well-being of our global community. SRR-India is proud to be the host nation for this significant event, bringing together experts, researchers, students, and policymakers committed to addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by radiation.

The theme, "Impact on Human Health and Environment," underscores our shared responsibility to delve into the complexities of radiation's effects and to develop strategies that safeguard both our populations and the ecosystems we inhabit. Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, we aim to foster advancements in research, technology, and policies that promote a safer and more sustainable future.

May this conference be a platform for collaboration, discovery, and the forging of lasting partnerships. I extend my best wishes for a successful and enriching International Conference on Radiation Research, and I look forward to the impactful outcomes that will emerge from our collective efforts.

It is a great delight to welcome and invite you to participate in the International Conference on Radiation Research: Impact on Human Health and Environment (ICRR-HHE 2024) together with the 4th Biennial Meeting of Society for Radiation Research (SRR), India being organized jointly with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna and Sai Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna and SRR India during November 22-24, 2024 at Patna, the capital city of Bihar State, India. The theme of the conference is to churn out new ideas and discuss in depth the recent advances in basic and applied radiation research related to human health and the environment. The effort is to provide a vibrant forum to review status of radiation research progress on various topics, share new knowledge and showcase growing radiation-based technologies for effectively serving the society. It may be recalled that this Conference is the continuation of a series of International Conferences organized successfully in 2016 ( Mumbai), 2018 (Hyderabad), 2022 (Mumbai) under the aegis of SRR India where a large number of reputed scientists, researchers, technologists, policy makers, experts from International Organizations, namely, WHO, IAEA, UNSCEAR, ICRP and many diverse stake holders from India and abroad actively participated. The organizers of this conference have chosen a wide spectrum of topics as can be seen from the Flyer spread from basic radiation effects on living cells, tissues and organs to emerging radiation applications including nanoscience for improving cancer therapy and diagnosis of numerous diseases. Apart from radiation induced cancer concerns, their effects on cardiovascular ailments and other diseases have been included. The notable achievements in employing radiation and nuclear technologies to generate power, improve quality of human life, newer applications in medicine, agriculture, food technology and industry, and innovations in the existing technologies to contribute to global problems as climate crisis management and prevention of environmental degradations are a few of these examples. It is however considered important to initiate new research programs and strengthen the ongoing projects in actively debated areas such as low dose radiation effects relevant to address LNT issues, relatively unexplored topics such as space radiobiology and so on. It seems highly warranted to find a better foresight and accelerate the understanding of mechanisms of high as well as low LET radiations on living as well as non-living materials for developing new applications of radiation such as beam technology for advanced cancer therapy. The scope of scientific deliberations expands from basic radiation biological mechanisms to recently discovered effects of radiation on bystander cells has generated enormous new interest in the cellular radiobiology research. The Scientific Committee intends to invite top Scientists/Experts in the interdisciplinary field of radiation research including physics, chemistry, biology and allied sciences to address the core issues and identify future trends in research. It is desired to create an opportunity for interactions and intermingling of experts with the younger investigators entering the radiation research fields. Apart from regular talks, poster sessions and awards have been included and emphasis is given to provide ample opportunity for interactions, discussions, debates among delegates in a stimulating environment. A Panel Discussion has been planned by inviting Experts and Lead Scientists to highlight the Key Issues in the field and address questions from the floor to generate interest and satisfy curiosity. It is hoped that the conference will prove an effective platform to share and update knowledge and forge collaborations for furtherance of radiation research.

We earnestly welcome each one of you from India and abroad and assure you of high-quality science, comfortable stay and warm hospitality. Let me remind you of many exciting possibilities of visiting famous tourists’ destinations and world heritage centers in and around Patna.
